Abstract: We publish the findings of lichens collected during the survey of selected underexplored sites in the Eastern Slovakia. Alltogether, we report on 241 taxa, of which we collected 211. The list was also supplemented by published information on 30 species, which was scattered in older papers focused on lichen diversity. Eight species were not listed in the latest checklist of lichens of Slovakia or the supplements: Acarospora praeruptorum, Involucropyrenium romeanum, Micarea soralifera, Pyrenopsis sanguinea, Rinodina calcarea, Verrucaria furfuracea, Xanthomendoza huculica and Xanthoria ucrainica. We also briefly comment on other, rarely recorded ones or phytogeographically interesting species (e.g. Agonimia allobata, Bacidia rosella, Caloplaca lucifuga, Hypotrachyna revoluta, Lecania croatica, Parmelina pastillifera, and Solenopsora cesatii). Important collections include other rarely collected species, e.g. Ionaspis lacustris, or Thermutis velutina. Collections of two lichenicolous fungi (Monodictys epilepraria, Tremella lichenicola) and one lichen-allied fungus (Anisomeridium macrocarpum) are reported as well. We also comment on inevitable nomenclatoric changes based on recent biosystematic studies related to Lepraria lobificans (now L. finkii) and Verrucaria deminuta (now V. obfuscans). An importance of update of red list of lichens, along with other groups of organisms is raised.

Abstract: The contribution presents the results of the bryofloristic and ecological study of the cemetery Kozia brána in Bratislava. Altogether 50 species were recorded (48 mosses and 2 liverworts), one of the recorded species (Syntrichia laevipila) is red-listed in Slovakia (DD category). Comparison with older researches shows higher bryophyte diversity as 20 years ago. 14 species are new for this locality and six species were not confirmed. The majority of species occurred on rocky substrates (25), especially on gravestone, less species grow on soil (17) and living trees (16), one species was found on dead wood.
Keywords: biodiversity, bryophyte ecology, cemetery, urban area.
Abstract: The paper brings new information on the occurrence of two mosses – Campylium protensum and Palustriella falcata on the territory of Slovakia. Both species have been not accepted in the current checklist of bryophytes of Slovakia.
Keywords: bryophytes, distribution, neglected taxa.
Abstract: This is the first report on the occurrence of Agropyron pectinatum in the Košická kotlina Basin near Kokšov–Bakša village (Košice-okolie district). So far, no published references have been available from Eastern Slovakia. The adventive origin of this Eurasian steppe species near Košice city is discussed. In the Slovak red list A. pectinatum is evaluated as near threatened.
Keywords: adventive species, Košická kotlina Basin, near threated species, river dam.
Abstract: New data on the occurrence of synanthropic vascular plant species in the National park Muránska planina (Central Slovakia) are given. The attention is particularly paid to findings of several neophytes in forest ecosystems (Abutilon theophrasti, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Bidens frondosa, Datura stramonium, Erechtites hieracifolius, Helianthus annuus, H. tuberosus, Iva xanthiifolia, Lupinus polyphyllus). These species have been found mostly close to hunter hides, feed-through and similar stands. Feeding of game animals and crop decoy application in the natural forests in the higher elevations and strictly protected areas seem to be inadvertent and undesirable. New data on the spontaneous occurrence of several alien cultivated ornamental plants in the study area (Aster laevis, A. novae-angliae, A. novii-belgii, A. versicolor, Calendula officinalis, Cerastium tomentosum, Cosmos bipinnatus, Euphorbia marginata, Hylotelephium spectabile, Mentha spicata, Miscanthus sinensis, Narcissus pseudonarcissus, Petunia × atkinsiana, Pharbitis purpurea, Phlox paniculata, P. subulata, Rudbeckia bicolor, Sedum lydium, Tagetes patula) are given as well. One locality of the critically endangered species Silene gallica has been found.
Keywords: invasive species, Malé Karpaty Mts, threatened species, vascular plants, Záhorská nížina Lowland.

Abstract: The Newsletter of the Slovak Botanical Society named “Bulletin Slovenskej botanickej spoločnosti” started to support communication within the Society and to publish new floristical records from the territory of Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia) in 1979. Two issues per year have been published, but first floristical records appeared in Volume 7 (1985). In the present paper floristical notes published in this journal between the years 1985 and 1987 are summarized. In that period five authors published thirteen notes with new localities of the following plant taxa recorded in Slovakia: Acer tataricum L., Epilobium dodonaei Vill., Himantoglossum adriaticum Baumann, Chamorchis alpina (L.) Rich., Chenopodium botrys L., Impatiens parviflora DC., Orchis coriophora L., Pinus mugo Turra, Soldanella carpatica Vierh., Tragus racemosus (L.) All., Vulpia myuros (L.) C.C. Gmelin, and Woodsia ilvensis (L.) R. Br. em. Babingt. subsp. ilvensis. In 1988 new format of the Bulletin with large content, one issue per year, and more new floristical notes and papers appeared.

Abstract: Manuscript of a medicinal plants book dated to 1811 was found in the historical library of the parish church in Velčice, district Zlaté Moravce (SW Slovakia). The book called „Poznamenany nekterich zelinek ...“, 140 pages, published more or less in early Slovak language („bernolákovčina“) codified by Anton Bernolák in 1787, contains 357 recipes with Latine, Slovak and German names of plants used for medicine. It is similar to known book of Juraj Fándly „Zelinkár“ published in 1793. The author of the book was and is still unknown. In the paper several questions on the Zelinkár from Velčice are discussed, in relation to the Fandly‘s book Zelinkár. The manuscript can be used as a resource of data for history of medicine and medicinal plants in Slovakia as well as for origin and evolution of the Slovak botanical nomenclature, Slovak names of plant species used for medicine in 19th century in the territory of Central Europe. More research is needed to answer the open questions discussed in the paper.
